I knit. That’s what I do.

imageMy latest Finished Object is a gift.  Much of what I knit is for others.  Not because I’m this exceptionally generous person.  It’s because it’s through my knitting that I express my purest emotions.

I knit.  That’s what I do.

I knit to celebrate – small things, like birthdays and house warmings; and big things, like babies and weddings.

I knit to heal. I guess you can say it’s my “chicken soup.”

And I knit when there’s nothing else I can do.

I knit. That’s what I do.

It’s sort of like a really long hug, or holding someone’s hand at just the right moment. Or knowing exactly what to say when someone is hurting. Or telling someone just exactly how special they are — without actually telling them.

I knit. That’s what I do.

Oh, and because every woman should have at least one shawl in her closet!
