Today’s post covers #9 on our list of wardrobe essentials: The alternative to the sweatsuit. What exactly does that mean?
Tim says, “This isn’t gym-wear; it’s a walking the dog outfit that’s easy, feels comfortable, and looks great. It can be jeans and a crisp white tee and a cashmere cardigan or a cotton jersey day dress. It’s whatever suits your lifestyle and says ‘casual’ with sophistication.” Here are a few ideas.
Leggings and a fleece or knit top – Need a refresher on how to wear leggings? Read my earlier post here.
Jeans and a t-shirt – Don’t forget: There’s a pair of comfortable jeans out there for everyone.
Cotton dress or skirt and t-shirt/cardigan – I love this combination in the summer. A cool, airy cotton skirt, t-shirt and flip flops or sandals are almost more comfortable than sweats, and they are the perfect outfit for almost any function, from grocery shopping or taking the kids to the park, to an evening cook-out or weekend party.
Hoodie sweater and yoga pants – This is a typical choice for me on Sunday. I have a super soft orange hoodie sweater and the best yoga pants that are my favorite piece in my entire closet. I can take off the sweater to do a little housekeeping, then throw it back on with my tennis shoes or ballet flats and run to the store.
Button up shirt and linen pants – I bought a pair of linen drawstring pants at H&M about 5 years ago that are awesome. They were only about $20, go through the washer and dryer, and feel amazing.
