Make it work!

My latest book purchase. I can't wait to read it.

My latest book purchase. I can’t wait to read it.

I love Tim Gunn. No, I don’t know him personally, but sometimes I feel like I do.

For those of you who don’t know of Tim, he may currently be best known as the lovable but highly respected “friend of the designers” on Project Runway. Heidi Klum may be the host, but Tim is the real star.

He consults, critiques, and eventually gives the designers the boot – all with a hug and a professional pat on the back. And his life motto of “make it work” is a part of every show.

But let’s not forget about Tim’s vast design background. He attended, graduated from and worked for the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC. He then joined Parson’s School of Design in New York, and eventually was responsible for revamping their entire design program. He left Parson’s in 2007 to join the Liz Claiborne company as Creative Director. He has written several books on fashion and his life, and I am the proud owner of his latest.

Tim is also known for his 10 Wardrobe Essentials – the ten items that every woman should have in her wardrobe. I will share those with you on the blog next week.

My dream is to have Tim Gunn go through my closet – then we’d go to lunch!

Who else is a Tim Gunn fan?

  1. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Tim a couple of times through my friend, John Bartlett. He is every bit the gentleman he appears to be.

    • Mitch, that’s nice to hear, and I’m really jealous. I’m just a couple of chapters into the book, but his personal philosophy seems to be very genuine.
